SHEIKHUPURA, July 24: An ex-MPA was shot dead while his two companions sustained bullet injuries when unidentified people opened fire on them near Ravi Rayon Mills in Kala Shah Kaku on Monday noon.

Former MPA Gulfam Ashraf, a resident of Narang Mandi, was on his way to Muridke from Lahore along with Amanullah and Afzal by a car. The attackers, who were riding a blue wagon, opened fire on the MPA’s car, killing him on the spot and injuring his companions.

The late Gulfam Ashraf was elected MPA from Narang Mandi in 1986 as an independent candidate and a well-known figure in his area. Ferozewala police are investigating.
