KARACHI: 57 phones, 22 vehicles taken away

KARACHI, July 24: As many as 79 people were forcibly deprived of their cars, motorbikes or cellphones in the city on Monday.

Police said that 57 mobile phones were reported to have been taken away from different city areas. Twenty-eight people reported that bandits had snatched their cellphones, cash and other belongings at gunpoint while 29 others had reported that their cellphones were stolen.

Police said that 22 vehicles — 10 cars and 12 motorcycles — were reported to have been either hijacked or stolen from various areas. Two cars were snatched at gunpoint while eight others were stolen. Five motorbikes were snatched at gunpoint and seven others stolen.
