KARACHI, July 23: Five-year-old bay horse Sea Wave came from behind to register a facile eight lengths victory over filly Butter Fly and claim feature event in the Summer Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Installed as favourite Sea Wave who was jittery in the start picked up momentum after turning for home and overtook the opponents to win in a smart time of 1 min 4 2/5 secs.

Trained by A. Hanan and ridden by Shahid Manan he earned standing ovation from the racing fraternity for putting up brilliant show.

Gullu’s Government who led the pack of eight runners in the initial stages secured third place.

Eight-year-old bay mare Fizza who was rank outsider created sensation when she galloped to two lengths victory to land the opener.

Three-year-old dark bay colt Hot Strides registered his maiden victory when he edged out joint favourite Jan-e-Mun by two lengths.

The triumph earned rider M. Amjad a fine double with two back to back winners in Fizza and Hot Strides.

Four-year-old chestnut filly Mutiyar also earned distinction to post her maiden win at the KRC.

This was her second run after coming from Lahore. She finished off the board in the previous outing on July 9.

The KRC administrator cancelled fourth race of the programme following a false start after couple of horses bolted away at the starting gate.

Making amends after having content with three successive second positions, filly Voo Doo Doll returned with flying colours beating Sher Garh with ease by eight lengths.

Fancied three-year-old chestnut filly Abhi Abhi after two disappointing runs won the honours as she pleased.

After two wins on trot she was allegedly not allowed to run on merit in the following two meetings.
