Two tehsil councils refuse audit

GUJRANWALA, July 23: The audit department has started audit of almost all union and tehsil councils while two TCs have declined to hand over their record to the respective teams, it is learnt here.

Reports said teams started audit of accounts of UCs and TCs throughout the division to review the income and expenditure in accordance with the law, but Wazirabad and Sara-i-Alamgir municipal administrations declined to hand over their record to them.

The audit department had reportedly informed DCO Manzer Hayat in this regard who had directed the respective tehsil administrations to get their accounts audited.

Meanwhile, local government divisional director (audit) Tariq Asad Butt said the audit process had been started in 612 UCs and 21 tehsil and town councils of the division which would be completed within a fortnight.

CONDEMNED: The Pakistan Dental Association has condemned the murder of surgeon Dr Farooq Qureshi in Lahore and demanded early arrest of killer(s).

At a meeting held here on Sunday presided over by Dr Sajjad Mustafa, the participants expressed their concern over the deteriorating law and order situation.
