Man, two sons shot dead in Haripur

HARIPUR, July 23: A man, his two sons and another relative were shot dead on Sunday, allegedly over a love affair, in village Kag located some 15 km off here.

According to police, Mohammed Tahir, son of Mohammed Safdar, was in love with ‘L’, daughter of Abdul Sattar, and this sparked a dispute between the families of Sadfar and Sattar.

On Sunday, Safdar went to the house of Sattar along with his two sons Mohammed Zahid and Mohammed Shahid, and another relative Hasrat, son of Malik Asif, in order to settle the dispute, police said, quoting an eyewitness. However, Sattar and his son Abdul Ghaffar opened fire on the four, causing them severe injuries, said police.

The injured were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Haripur where Safdar and his sons were pronounced dead while Hasrat was advised to be shifted to Ayub Medical Complex in Abbottabad. However, Hasrat too succumbed to wounds on way to Abbottabad.

Sattar, who also received bullet wounds, accused the four deceased of injuring him. The police registered a case and started searching for Ghaffar, who disappeared soon after the incident.—Correspondent
