KARACHI: Chinese team visits Quaid’s mausoleum


KARACHI, July 23: A seven-member delegation from the China International Engineering Consulting Corporation, on the behalf of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, on Sunday morning visited Quaid’s mausoleum to pay tribute to the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

The delegation led by Gou Husheng, Vice-President/Chief Economist, China International Engineering Consulting, laid floral wreath at the mausoleum, an official news release stated.

The purpose of their visit was to enhance and strengthen the economic and trade ties between Pakistan and China and find out investment opportunities in various fields like coal and other minerals mining, transport, mass transit, engineering and ports development.—APP

Earlier, the Chinese delegation met senior KPT officials on Saturday to explore investment opportunities and exchanged views on bilateral economic cooperation between Pakistan and China, adds our staff reporter.

The visiting delegation was briefed about ongoing port development projects being executed by the Karachi Port Trust.

A KPT press release issued here said that Chinese were greatly impressed by the development projects, particularly Pakistan’s deep water container port and cargo village being built in the western backwaters as an off dock facility.

The delegation was headed by Mr Gous Husheng, Vice-President/ Chief Economist of China International Engineering Consulting Corporation along with Mr Zhao Qingmmao, Commercial Counsellor, Economic and Commercial Office of the Consulate General of China. On their arrival at the port, the delegation was received by KPT Chairman Vice-Admiral Ahmad Hayat and it also took a round of the port.

The KPT press release further stated that Mr Husheng was very impressed with the

vision of Karachi Port and its numerous development projects.

He remarked that it was because of this that his delegation was keen to visit KPT and exchange bilateral economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
