TIMERGARA, July 22: District Nazim Dir Lower, Ahmad Hassan Khan, on Saturday presented a tax-free, surplus budget of the district for the year 2006-07 with a total outlay of Rs1.25 billion.

In his budget speech at the district council, Mr Khan said Rs79.9102 million had been allocated for development schemes and Rs1.170 billion for non-development expenditure.

The budget session was presided over by convener Zahir Shah.

The district nazim said that in the development sector Rs17.532 million would be spent on the ongoing schemes under Annual District Development Programme 2006-07 and Rs1.962million on the ongoing schemes under Education Sector Reforms (ESR) 2001-02 programme.

Similarly, he said Rs18.120 million would be spent on the ongoing schemes under Education Sector Reforms 2004-05 and 2005-06 and Rs0.955 million on Social Action Programme 2001-02.

He said Rs11.275 million would be dedicated to the ongoing schemes under Citizen Community Boards (CCBs) and Rs2.348 million to the ongoing schemes under Presidential Fund 2001-02.

Moreover, he said Rs17.432 million had been allocated for the schemes under Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2006-07.

According to the district nazim said that Rs5.963 million would be spent during the current year under the CCBs and Rs1.016million on development of sport facilities in the district. Besides, an amount of Rs0.10 million would be spent on civil defence and Rs2.2522 million would go to women development under National Gender Reforms Action Plan.

As regards the non-development expenditure of Rs1.170 billion, he said Rs1.081 billion had been allocated for salaries of the government employees and Rs26.417 million for non-salary expenditures.

An amount of Rs20.159 million would be consumed as electricity bills, while Rs5.947 million would be spent on repair of government schools.

Mr Khan said repair and maintenance of roads would consume Rs10 million, while other repair and maintenance works would take Rs2.206 million.

Likewise, consumable goods in classrooms of government schools would require Rs5.249 million, he said.
