BEIJING, July 22: Pakistan Ambassador to China Salman Bashir has said China-Pakistan cooperation in various sectors, including defence, energy and economy, is moving ahead, meeting common needs of their people.

Briefing a 100-member Pakistan youths delegation on Sino-Pakistan ties at the Pakistan Embassy, he said the two countries had initiated many joint ventures, like manufacturing naval warships (frigate) and fighter aircraft – JF-17 thunder – in the defence sector. The projects were likely to go into production within next few months, he said.

The ambassador said the two countries had concluded a general framework agreement during the visit of President Gen Pervez Musharraf to China in February, giving boost to their socio-economic partnership.

Besides this, the “Treaty of Friendship” signed by the two countries during Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao’s visit to Pakistan last year was another step forward reinforcing their strategic alliance, he said.

He said the multifaceted bilateral cooperation covered various areas, including joint efforts in development of space technology.—APP
