LAHORE, July 21: Lawyers on Friday allegedly helped an accused escape arrest from the Lahore High Court after Justice Khwaja Muhammad Sharif rejected his bail before arrest in a case of forging power of attorney to occupy a property.

The Gojra police had registered a case of fraud against Muhammad Younis on the complaint of Muhammad Shafi who alleged that Younis had forged power of attorney to take possession of a property.

Younis moved the LHC for bail before arrest and the court rejected his plea. As he came out of the courtroom, the police tried to arrest him but the lawyers did not allow the police to take him into custody and helped him escape.

The Gojra police later got a case registered against some of the lawyers.
