KHAIRPUR, July 21: Former District Nazim Nafisa Shah has said that tribal disputes in the district are a result of inefficiency of police.

Talking to a gathering of PPP activists here on Friday, she held the Faiz Mohammad Bindo police responsible for the dispute between the Katpars and the Khorkhanis.

She said that the SHO belonging to the ruling party was deployed at the police station for the last five years who should have been removed the day when five people were killed in the clash.

She said that a few days back PPP worker Roshan Bhand was killed in a clash between two groups of the Bhand community.

She said that the dispute in the Bhand community of Kot Mir Mohammad was ongoing for the last five years but no body had taken steps to settle it.

Ms Shah condemned the arrest of comrade Jadal Khorkhani, president of the People’s Hari Committee of the Khairpur district, in connection with the Katpar-Khorkhani feud.

She said the district police was not interested to settle the disputes because it earned money in shape of bribe from people.

Demanding the release of Jadal Khorkhani, she said that a high-level inquiry should be conducted into police negligence.

BOOKED: About 18 farmers were booked for water theft with the Mirwah police on Friday.

Sub-engineer (irrigation) Abd-ul Qadir Shar lodged an FIR with the Mirwah police station stating that during his visit to Saun wah and Bilawal wah, the farmers were found stealing water.
