RAWALPINDI, July 21: A man was shot dead while another injured in a robbery in Bhara Kahu while a five-year-old boy was killed after being run over by a tractor in the same locality on Friday, police said.
In the first incident, Chaudhry Rukhsar, a grocer, was shot dead while Wakeel Ahmed, residing in the neighbouring house, was injured when a gang of robbers stormed into the latter’s house.
Police said Wakeel Ahmed woke up when he heard some noise and saw strangers inside his house who were taking away a television set and other household items. On seeing the culprits, Wakeel started screaming which caught the attention of Chaudhry Rukhsar who lived in the neighbouring house.
Rukhsar rushed to the scene, but was shot dead by the culprits. They shot and injured Wakeel and took away the television set.
Meanwhile, a five-year-old boy was killed after being run over by a tractor trolley in the jurisdiction of Bhara Kahu police on Friday.
Staff Reporter from Islamabad adds: SSP Sikandar Hayat Friday ordered an inquiry against a sub-inspector for allegedly grabbing money for issuance of Medico Legal Certificates (MLCs), sources told Dawn.
SI Ghulam Murtaza deployed at Bhara Kahu police station had demanded money from the family member of Chaudhry Rukhsar who was shot dead by robbers during a robbery incident.
The matter came to light when Iqbal, a family member of the deceased, told an employee of Pims that they were too poor to arrange money for the MLC. The SI had told Mr Iqbal that medico-legal officers take money for issuance of MLCs.
The matter was brought to the notice of MLO Dr Waseem Khawja, who lodged a complaint with SSP Sikandar Hayat.
The SSP told this reporter that an inquiry had been ordered and ASP Moin Masood was assigned investigation.
