KARACHI, July 21: The Sunni Tehreek on Friday observed protest day against the failure of the government to arrest killers involved in the Nishtar Park bomb blast despite the passage of over 100 days.
The ST also condemned the massacre of innocent Muslims including children and women in Palestine and Lebanon at the hands of Israel backed by the US.
During the protest day, which was observed on the appeal of Sunni Rehbar Council, demonstrations were staged in different parts of the country including Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Quetta Khuzdar and Peshawar.
In Karachi, the protest rally was staged in front of the Karachi Press Club in the afternoon, which was addressed by the ST leaders.
Shahid Ghauri, who is the central leader of the ST and member of the council, flayed the government that even after 100 days of the Nishtar park tragedy, not a single killer was so far arrested.
Pointing out that the ST had always condemned extremism, sectarianism and terrorism and had played its role to eliminate this menace but its workers were from the day one were being victimised and the government had also exploited the supporters of the party.
He said on one hand killers of our party workers were not arrested till today while on the other hand our leaders Mohammad Abbas Qadri, Iftikhar Ahmad Bhatti, Mohammad Akram Qadri were victims of target killing.
Mr Ghauri said that due to the failure of the government to arrest the killers involved in Nishtar Park tragedy unrest among the followers of the ST was on the rise and announced that until the government arrest the perpetrators of Nishtar Park incident, the ST would continue its protest and would not allow the government to put the matter in the cold storage.
He said had the culprits involved in the Nishtar Park tragedy were taken to task, the tragic assassination of Allama Hasan Turabi would not have taken place.
Shakil Qadri termed Israeli invasion of Lebanon as an act of open terrorism and pointed out that in order to keep Muslim rulers terrorised , Israel had always indulged in massacre of innocent Muslims including children, women and elderly people and the UN had always played the role of a silent spectator.
Mufti Jameel Naeemi said that the US and Israel were big terrorists. He appealed to the Muslims all over the globe to try to comprehend the heinous conspiracy of Zionists and their supporters who wanted to takeover the resources of Muslims and make them their slaves.
Maulana Abdul Alim Hazarvi, Tariq Mehboob, Mohammad Hussain Lakhani, Abdul Razzaq Naqshbandi and others also spoke.
