KARACHI: Gutka-sellers warned

KARACHI, July 21: The City District Government Karachi has asked the sellers of Gutka, Mainpuri and other such hazardous substances to refrain doing their illegal business and warned them of stern action, otherwise.

CDGK’s public health committe chairman Mirza Sajid Baig, chairing a meeting at his office on Friday, directed the DO Quality Control Shaukat Zaman and other concerned officials to launch action against sale and manufacturing of gutka, mainpuri and other harmful products.

He further asked the officials to ensure that manufacturing and expiry date were written and were visible on every product, adding inspection teams be formed at departmental level to conduct raids and collect samples of substandard items from different markets.

The meeting was told that 29,000 samples of various products had been collected throughout the city since inception of CDGK.

The meeting proposed appointment of magistrates at city government level to check sale of inferior quality daily commodities.—PPI
