KARACHI: Gulshan town proposes tax on mobile phone towers
KARACHI, July 21: The Gulshan Iqbal Town Council has proposed levying tax on installation of mobile phone companies' communication towers in limits of the town.
The council also proposed correction in the name of the town municipal administration.
The council met here on Friday, with Presiding Officer-I Mushtaq Ahmed in the chair, unanimously approved resolution calling for Rs5,000 per month tax on each tower installed at various buildings and flats.
The house also gave unanimous approval to a resolution asking for correcting the name of town municipal administration and changing its monogram. The resolution proposed that name of Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town Municipal Administration should be 'Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town Local Government', comprising Town Municipal Administration and Town Council under the relevant law.
The meeting also adopted a resolution for laying of a three-inch diameter, four-inch diameter PVC and MS water pipelines in UC-7 Shanti Nagar, Sindhi Brohi Mohalla and Nehru Goth to improve supply in these localities.
The council members, including Aamir Rafi, Mushtaq Ahmed, Gulzar Khushi, Moiz Qazi, Abdul Salam, Junaid Zahidi, Ashraf Karim, Rashid Mannan, Kamran Raza, Taj Mohammad Wasan, Zulfiqar Ali, town councillors Tania Asif, Kaniz Fatima, Shagufta Shahid, Shehbaz Masih and council officer Asif Rizvi attended the meeting.
In Saddar Town, the work on beautification and renovation of parks, playgrounds, roundabouts and islands is in full swing.
The town staff have completed renovation of central island and side belt from Clifton Bridge to Helipad and planted sapling along Shahrah-i-Iqbal, Shahrah-i-Firdosi, Khayaban-i-Saadi and Attar.
Renovation and beautification work at Arts Council roundabout and Jinnah Fountain is under way and near completion.—PPI
