LONDON, July 19: Pakistan have raided English league cricket to make up the numbers for their tour match against Northamptonshire which starts from Thursday.

Off-spinner Arshad Khan has been called in from Northern Premier League side St Anne's for three-day match.

All-rounder Abdul Razzaq and spinner Danish Kaneria are among Test stars keen to rest before second Test begins at Old Trafford on July 27.

“With heat and four matches in as many weeks, we would like to rest Danish,” said manager Zaheer Abbas.

Three new arrivals, bowlers Samiullah Niazi and Rao Iftikhar and opener Taufiq Umar are likely to play.

Razzaq complained of a painful back after final day of drawn first Test but team management do not view problem as serious.—Agencies
