KARACHI, July 19: Leading men and women players of the country are due to feature in the richest ever Rs350,000 Arif Habib Tennis Tournament which will be played at the refurbished courts of Karachi Club from July 23 to 30.

Prominent players including defending champion Aqeel Khan, Asim Shafiq, Nomi Qamar, Jalil Khan and Seher Khawaja have so far confirmed their participation in the event.

The details of the competition were unfolded by the organisers at a press conference at the Karachi Club on Tuesday. The men’s singles winner will fetch Rs65,000 while the women’s singles champion will get richer by Rs30,000.

Other events to be contested are juniors U-17 singles, boys U-13 singles, men’s doubles, juniors U-17 doubles and senior 45 plus doubles.

According to technical director of the tournament Altaf Hussain, last date for the submission of entries is July 21 and the draws would be taken out the same evening.
