Another human smuggler held

GUJRANWALA, July 19: Another human agent was arrested by a Federal Investigation Agency (passport cell) team in a raid from Mandi Bahauddin on Wednesday.

Reports said that FIA assistant director Aqeel Qureshi received information that human smuggler Zahid Kamal, wanted to agency for the last four years, was present in Mandi. He constituted the team, led by inspector Nadeem Ashraf and SI Riaz Ahmad, who raided there and arrested the accused after a brief encounter.

It was stated that the accused extorted Rs450,000 from one Wahid Ahmad and Rs300,000 from Nasir Mahmood for sending them to Greece. The accused was also involved in smuggling of around 300 Pakistanis to Greece and other countries.

SHOT DEAD: Unidentified assailants shot dead a watchman and also took away his gun in Aroop town on Wednesday.

Deceased Muhammad Khan, father of seven children, was on his way to Fatumand when accused shot him dead.

Police have registered a case against unidentified accused and are investigating.

FERTILISER SCAM: Two people were arrested in a raid on a factory producing substandard fertiliser on Hafizabad Road on Wednesday.

Police said substandard fertiliser was supplied to farmers in Naushera Virkan, Kamoki and Wazirabad. They used it for growing paddy and other crops but the fertiliser damaged their crops. Agriculture experts told them that the fertiliser they used was substandard.

The farmers informed police which raided a factory and arrested workers Arif and Zafar Ali along with 319 bags of substandard fertiliser while factory owners managed to escape.
