KARACHI: Independent judiciary vital for fair polls: PTI

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, July 19: The Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf is striving for the independence of judiciary and election commission without which transparent elections cannot be held.

This was stated by Acting Secretary General of the party Air Marshal (r) Shahid Zulfiqar while addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Wednesday.

Referring to the pressing problems and crises the country was faced with at present, he said only a real leadership could steer the country out of such a situation. He observed that all national institutions, particularly judiciary, had been destroyed and in order to save the country from suffering further damage, the independent status of judiciary must be restored.

He said the PTI was preparing for a mass mobilisation drive in September against the status quo.

PTI Sindh chief Zubair Khan said that the party membership campaign was under way and efforts were being made to take 50,000 members from Sindh to Islamabad for an anti-government campaign. He said development did not manifest the status of a country, but the living standard.
