KARACHI, July 19: Autotechnik, partner and importer of German car Porsche, has planned to import 63 cars and other models in 2006-07. The company during the last fiscal year imported 43 vehicles.

CEO Autotechnik Attique Ahmed talking with Dawn on Wednesday, on the sidelines of the launching of its operations and opening of Porsche Centre in Karachi, said that the company had witnessed a good demand for costly cars.

He added that the four models of Porsche being introduced in the country carried price tags ranging between Rs5.8-18 million. “There are people from rich class in the country who prefer to buy such costly vehicles”.

These cars, he said, would also be available through leasing and bank financing.

However, he said that the German company had no plans to set up an assembly plant in Pakistan.
