NGO godowns raided, goods seized

By Rashid Javed

ABBOTTABAD, July 18: The Mansehra police and representatives of the district government raided five godowns of the Ibtida Foundation and seized relief goods worth millions of rupees which had been packed in bags and packets for sale under other brand names.

Relief goods, including food and items of daily use, that had been donated by a Qatar-based organisation to a local NGO for onward distribution too were found here.

However, the officials of the NGO instead of distributing these goods among earthquake victims were repacking and dispatching them to other parts of the country for selling.

Police have sealed all five godowns.

The office bearers of the NGO had already escaped.
