QUETTA, July 18: Governor Awais Ahmed Ghani has stressed plans to improve quality of education, especially for women, in Balochistan. Speaking as chief guest at the 1st convocation of Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University here on Tuesday, he said it was the need of the hour to improve human resources through quality education for securing distinctive status in the world.
“We cannot achieve the goal of development and prosperity unless we improve quality of women education. Without education empowerment of women is impossible,” he said.
The governor said: “Importance of education cannot be denied as all the scientific advancements and achievements made by developed nations are due to education.”
He said the government had been focusing on improvement of education sector in the province. The government had allocated millions of rupees for education sector, he added.
Mr Ghani said that Higher Education Cell had been set up at the Governor’s House to monitor universities in Balochistan for the purpose.
The governor said establishment of women university in Balochistan was a positive step towards bringing social revolution. The university has enrolled 800 students and 770 were from Balochistan and 30 others from other provinces. He called upon the graduates of the university to contribute and play role for bringing about a positive social change in the province.—APP
