Access to Kaghan valley opened

ISLAMABAD, July 18: Access to tourist resorts in Kaghan valley has been opened after more than 64 km of winding mountain roads in Kawai and Hangaraiu union councils were cleared under a project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Another 40 km of roads would be cleared in the coming weeks to restore livelihoods in the valley. The project is part of the ongoing $2.6 million USAID programme, said a statement issued here on Monday. Balakot Tehsil Nazim Junaid Qasim expressed his gratitude for USAID’s work at a community meeting on July 6. The meeting was attended by more than 75 residents of Kawai village.—Our Reporter
