Delhi denies access to websites

NEW DELHI, July 18: Internet users in India have been denied access to India’s most popular blogging sites since the deadly train bombing attacks in Mumbai a week ago, local media said on Tuesday.

The Indian Department of Telecommunications ordered a block of 18 websites, including popular www.blogspot.com and www.typepad.com, for publishing ‘anti-national content’, the Press Trust of India news agency reported.

The order came two days after seven bombs exploded on Mumbai trains last Tuesday killing 182 people, an Indian Express report said, citing sources in the telecom department.

Indian telecom officials could not be reached for comment on the order.—AFP
