Relief package

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, July 18: All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) has demanded a relief package for spinning and knitting sectors which were ignored in the recently announced textile package.

In a meeting held on Tuesday, Aptma members expressed their surprise over the government policy to ignore these key segments with immense export potential.

The members further pointed out that the industry had made huge investment of around $6bn in BMR and said out of this a major chunk of around 50pc was borne by the spinning sector alone.

They said that spinning and knitting sectors were suffering owing to tough competition from regional countries that were given financial facilities and other incentives by their governments.
