KARACHI: Anti-polio drive in Gulshan begins today


KARACHI, July 17: The Gulshan-i-Iqbal town administration has finalised all arrangements for the three-day anti-polio drive commencing from July 18.

All the dispensaries in the town have been declared polio camps whereas mobile teams will conduct door-to-door visits to administer anti-polio drops. Town Nazim Wasay Jalil and THO Imdad Ali has appealed to the town residents to get their children up to five years of age vaccinated during the drive.

Residents can lodge complaints on telephone number 9203355 if the mobile teams do not reach their locality.

Meanwhile, the nazim of Jamshed Town, Mohammad Arif Ajakia, has appealed to the area residents to cooperate with the town administration to foil the attempts of unscrupulous elements who wanted to create law and order situation.

In a statement issued on Monday, the town nazim asked the people to keep a close watch on miscreants and especially around the entry points of religious places.

Mr Ajakia appealed to the area residents that if they found any suspicious activities they should immediately inform the police on 15 and also asked the UC nazims to also keep a close watch over the activities of miscreants.

The town nazim also invited proposals from the UC nazims for bringing improvements in the health and education sectors.

Malir Town Nazim Ansar Ahmed Sheikh directed the EDO health to take immediate steps for the deployment of paramedical staff and provision of necessary equipment for Shed-2 Hospital and Khokarapar Maternity Home so that both these centres could become functional. He also directed timely completion of the expansion project of the Saudabad Dispensary.

Mr Sheikh said that the town administration would provide all-out support for the completion of these projects.—PPI/APP
