KARACHI: 117 people deprived of vehicles, cellphones

KARACHI, July 16: As many as 117 people were deprived of their cars, motorbikes or cell-phones in the past 48 hours in various localities, the police said.

Sixty mobile phones were either snatched or stolen in the city in two days. Twenty-nine cellphones were taken away on Sunday. Of them, 12 were snatched and 17 stolen. Similarly, 15 people were robbed of their cellphones on Saturday and 16 other cellphones were stolen.

Bandits took away 57 vehicles on Saturday and Sunday. Twenty-five vehicles were taken away on Sunday. Of them, one car was snatched at gunpoint and nine others were stolen. Four motorbikes were snatched at gunpoint and 11 others were stolen.

On Saturday, 33 people were robbed of their cars and motorbikes. One car was hijacked and six others stolen. Sixteen motorcycles were snatched at gunpoint and nine others stolen in various localities here.

ACCIDENTS: A man and a boy died in separate accidents in various localities here on Sunday.

A man and his son on a motorcycle were hit by a speeding dumper-truck in Muwach Goth. The man Noor Mohammad and his son Aurangzeb received injuries. They were shifted to Murshid Hospital where Aurangzeb succumbed to his injuries.

In another accident, three boys on a bicycle were hit by an unknown vehicle in Ibrahim Hyderi police limits. As a result, all the three, identified as Wajid Hussain, Asif and Bilal, received injuries. They were taken to a hospital where Wajid succumbed to his injuries.
