My Own Job, Zargar should vie for honours

By Aftab Gilani

LAHORE, July 15: A tricky card of six events awaits race-goers at the day and night Lahore Summer Meeting to be held at the Racecourse on Sunday.

The first two events will be held over the sprinting distance of 800 metres while the remaining four will be contested over 1000 metres.

The feature event, the Jhelum Plate class IV division I and II has nine runners barring last-minute withdrawals. Of them, three namely Zargar, My Own Job and Harry Can View seems to be on chance.

On handicap and recent form, Zargar and My Own Job should decide about the winner. Harry Can view cannot be easily over-looked as he is much better colt on classification and bloodline but is appearing on the course after long time.

This will be the sixth and last race of the day.

Three-year-old Charismatic is the more speedy colt among the 14 acceptors for the fifth and supporting event barring last-minute withdrawals. This son of Tora Bora out-of Baily's Beed, Charismatic trained by Javaid Shirazee has already shown his worth and class in his previous two outings. Ironically Javaid Shirazee had fielded four more runners in this particular race. Perhaps he wants to bag all the four positions.

It is interesting to note that Tora Bora has proved himself a prolific sire, who was sold for a song by his owner, Khawaja M. Arif, who has an array of imported sires. So far his all progenies have worked well on the Racecourse.

Fair Game, Major Rana, Hello Dancer, Jewna and Hero's Hope are the pick of the eleven contenders field for the fourth race, which should end in a close contest with Fair Game enjoying a try run advantage.

Magic Mirror, Golden Goal and Quince are the prominent runners in the field of 13 sprinters in the third race. They should fight for the top honours.

Savera, High Hope and Rana Choice are good on form and previous performances in the second race. They should fight it out.

Simoom, Madam Lorina, Wah Cisco Wah and Remember You look on Chance in the opener. The distance however, goes in favour of Simoom. The first race will be held at 5.30pm.
