Aamir Pakistan’s main hope


KARACHI, July 15: Aamir Atlas Khan is Pakistan's main hope in the individual World Junior squash championship that begins with qualifying rounds from Sunday at Palmerston North, New Zealand.

The 2006 individual championship, which has attracted 126 players from 19 countries, takes place from July 16-22, and is followed by the World Junior Team championship from July 23-28.

Aamir is the second seed in the mega individual junior event behind Egyptian Ramay Ashour who jumped to 20th spot in the recent world rankings.

Ashour is seeded to become the first man in history to win the Men's World Junior Squash Championship title twice, according to the draws announced by the World Squash Federation (WSF).—Agencies
