QUETTA, July 15: The Balochistan Zamindar Action Committee members observed a token hunger strike to protest against loadshedding and power fluctuation which had badly affected the standing crops and orchards.
The representatives of action committee including its president Syed Taj Agha observed the strike in the lawn of the city district government from morning to evening.
The protesters claimed that similar protests were also observed in Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Mastung, Khuzdar, Bolan, Sibi and other areas.
Mr Agha said that earlier the government and Qesco had blamed saboteurs for blowing up electricity towers which caused loadshedding. But now for two months no such incident had occurred, but there was no let up in loadshedding.
He said the chief minister and Qesco had assured agriculturists that they would daily get power for 20 hours for tubewells but the commitment was not honoured.
