KARACHI: Carpeting of roads begins


KARACHI, July 15: Carpeting of roads has started in Shah Faisal Town after replacement of obsolete water supply and sewerage lines in various union councils.

Inspecting the carpeting work in Natha Khan Goth, Drigh Road, Shah Faisal Colony-5, Reta Plot and other areas in UCs 1, 2, 3 and 4, the nazim called for construction of long-lasting and quality roads. He said care should be taken of material used in all ongoing development works.

Talking to people, Mohammed Imran said Haq Parast leadership had started work on a number of development schemes for providing basic facilities to people. He said in order to provide clean and healthy environment to people, revolutionary changes have been brought in the hygiene and sanitation system.

He said the town administration is carrying out improvement of water supply and sewerage system to ensure supply of clean drinking water and to control sewage flowing on roads.

The Haq Parast leadership, he said, believes in practical action and not promises as it has committed to serve the cause of people.

He said the town administration has completed the long pending development schemes in a short time and ensured the provision of facilities to people.--APP

Gulberg town: The Gulberg town administration has finalised rain emergency arrangements and chalked out plan to ensure smooth flow of vehicular traffic at Sohrab Goth during rainfall.

Speaking to a meeting, town nazim Syed Maud Hayat directed the KWSB and town officials to complete ongoing storm-water drain cleaning and desilting work at earliest.

The meeting decided to refill places that have been dug up for construction work and laying of sewerage and water supply lines. Town naib nazim Sohail Zaidi, TPO Hussein Lehri and officials from KESC, KWSB and town attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, Malir town nazim Ansar Ahmed Sheikh directed officials concerned to put rain emergency squad on high alert and make two teams of the squad for working in two shifts.

He issued the directives while undertaking an inspection of rain emergency arrangements in Kala Board, Saudabad, Liaquat Market, Model Colony, Khokhrapar, Chaman Colony, Jinnah Square and other areas.

Baldia town nazim Kamran Akhtar also asked KWSB and town officials to complete rainwater drain cleaning work before start of monsoon rains.

During his visit to UC6, 7 and 8 to inspect the work, he directed them to ensure proper disposal of filth and waste lifted from the nullahs and drains.

Separately, Shah Faisal town administration has started carpeting of roads in various union councils after completion of work on replacement of dilapidated water and sewerage lines there.

Undertaking a visit of ongoing road carpeting work in Natha Khan Goth, Drigh Road, Shah Faisal Colony No. 5, Reeta Plot and other localities of UC-1, 2, 3 and 4, town nazim Mohammad Imran directed the officials concerned to maintain quality of work.In Site town, an open Kutchehri was held in UC-9 where town nazim Izharuddin Ahmed Khan listened to the complaints of people and issued on the spot directives for their redressal.

Jamshed town nazim Muhammad Arif Ajakia said the town administration would seek co-operation from city and provincial governments to build stadia and more playgrounds and parks in the town.

During his visit to parks and playgrounds, he said the town administration was making efforts to promote sports and recreational activities.

Jamshed Town Nazim Mohammad Arif Ajakia has said that maximum number of parks and playgrounds will be established in the town to promote recreational activities.—APP/PPI
