KARACHI, July 15: Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui has feared further terrorist acts and asked the Ulema and people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious item or activity to police.

“In the light of important information received, I want to take the Ulema and people into confidence and inform them to keep a vigilant eye on suspicious persons and items at gatherings and public places and report to police Madadgar 15 or nearest cops on duty”, he said in a statement on Saturday.

Rauf Siddiqui appealed to people to fully co-operate with law enforcers in making successful arrangements made by the government for their security.

He also directed the police and rangers to immediately arrest persons displaying weapons even if it were licensed.

Siddiqui said the government was using all means to arrest culprits behind Allama Turabi's killing and hoped that they would be captured soon.

He said experts had held a detailed examination of the scene where Allama Hasan Turabi was assassinated and no evidence was destroyed.

On motives behind Allama's assassination, the minister said such incidents were aimed at fomenting sectarian riots in Sindh, especially Karachi and harming the country's economy, as the city was revenue engine and economic backbone of Pakistan.

He, however, said the ulema and people by showing restraint had foiled this conspiracy.—PPI
