KARACHI: MMA stages anti-Israel rallies across city

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, July 14: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal on Friday held protest demonstrations outside mosques in different parts of the city after Juma prayers to condemn Israeli aggression against Palestinians and Lebanon, as well as criminal silence kept by the United Nations, international community and Islamic states over the Israeli brutalities.

Prof Ghafoor Ahmed, a central leader of the MMA, addressing a major rally at Jamia Masjid, Binnori Town, noted that the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Countries were not taking a serious notice of the Israeli aggression, and warned that their continued indifferent attitude would jeopardise peace around the world.

The rally was part of the protest rallies organised by MMA on the appeal of its President Qazi Hussain Ahmad to condemn Israeli raids on unarmed civilian population of Palestine and Lebanon.

Participants of the rally were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans of solidarity with Hamas and Hezbullah and condemnation of Israel. The protesters were also raising slogans in favour of continued war till the destruction of Israel and friends of Bush.

Speakers at the rally expressed solidarity with oppressed people of Palestine, Bosnia, Chechnya, Kashmir, Afghanistan and Iraq in their resistance against the aggressors.

Prof Ghafoor said that President Bush had turned the US as a ‘terrorist state’, and pointed out that with the support of the US and West, Israeli had been targeting the unarmed Palestinians for many weeks leaving hundreds of people, including women, children and elderly, dead and injured.

He strongly condemned President Bush’s remarks that Israel had the right to defend itself, and asked him to tell the entire peace-loving population of the world if the unarmed Palestinians did not have the right to defend themselves.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Ghaffar Aziz said it was a tragedy that Muslim rulers had chosen to act as a silent spectator of the reign of terror let lose on Muslims in the Middle East by Zionist forces.

Allama Hasan Turabi said “the voice of Hamas is the voice of Ummah… Muslims are peace-loving people but a conspiracy was hatched to impose a war on them only to declare them terrorists.”

He regretted that Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai, Mufti Mohammad Jamil and scores of other religious scholars had been assassinated so far but none of their killers had been arrested till date.

Yusuf Mastikhan said that genocide of Palestinians was being carried out under a deep-rooted conspiracy in which the US and West were actively involved.

Siddique Rathor said condemned that Muslims were being targeted everywhere in the world but the UN, OIC and human rights organisations all had been keeping a discreet silence.

Abdul Halim Ghauri, Habibuddin Junedi, Afzal Sardar, Basharat Mirza, Nazir Abbas Naqvi, Laeeq Khan, Yunus Barai and Hameedullah Khan called for a united action against Israel and imperialist forces by Ummah.
