Import of used cars

ISLAMABAD, July 14: Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Dr Akram Shaikh has proposed to the government to restrict import of used cars under the overseas Pakistani schemes to provide protection to local manufacturers.

A senior official told Dawn on Friday that a high-level meeting headed by the PM was held to review various proposals for restricting the import of used cars.

These measures are likely to be announced in the next trade policy. He said the deputy chairman proposed to restrict the gift of cars to only blood relatives -- wife, husband, father, mother, sister and brother. — Our Reporter
