Waqas slams century


KARACHI, July 13: Mohammad Waqas smashed a brilliant hundred to power Zone-I Whites to a massive 234-run victory over Zone-VII Blues in the KCCA Inter-zonal Under-15 cricket tournament at Student Sports Ground on Wednesday.

Waqas cracked 14 fours and two sixes as Zone-II Whites raced to 281 for nine in 50 overs.

Medium-pacer Raheel took seven for 79.

Zone-VII Blues, in reply, were bundled out for just 47 in 38.1 overs with spinners Ayazuddin and Daniyal Mansoor picking up seven wickets between them.

Defending champions Zone-II Whites, meanwhile, defeated Zone-VI Blues by 97 runs at TMC Ground with paceman Tabish Anwar taking six for 17.

In the third game, Zone-V Blues beat Zone-IV Blues by 81 runs at Landhi Gymkhana Ground.
