SHIKARPUR, July 13: Two people of the Mahar tribe who had been kidnapped allegedly by 12 armed men belonging to the Jatoi tribe in the jurisdiction of Rustam police on Wednesday night, have been killed.

According to reports, five men, Munir Ahmed, Arbab Ali, Mumtaz Ali, Illahi Bux and Nazal, all Mahars, were kidnapped by a group of the 12 Jatoi clansmen when they were going home after taking at shop in the Taib village.

Two persons identified as Munir Ahmed Mahar, 28, and Arbab Ali Mahar, 29, were gunned down by the kidnappers when they reached the Taib link road near Mir Wah and Dangar Wahi. Other hostages were released.

The motive behind the incident is said to be revenge for the murder of Hazari Jatoi as the accused persons were suspecting that the deceased Munir and Arbab were involved in the killing of Hazari.

The Rustam police on the complaint of Barkat Ali Mahar, a relative of the deceased, lodged an FIR against 12 Jatoi tribesmen, including Shahzor, Paroo, Gul Baig, Shabbir, Shahmir, Jamshed, Ali Bux, Ali Hassan and four other unidentified persons.

No arrest was made till the filing of the report.
