Charter of democracy supported

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, July 13: Communist Workers-Peasant Party (CWPP) has said that the signing of the charter of democracy is an encouraging step which will help democratic forces fight against the dictatorship effectively.

Speaking to newsmen at Quetta Press Club after a two-day meeting of the party’s central executive committee here on Wednesday, CWPP President Sufi Abdul Khaliq Baloch said the government policies were not in the interest of the federation.

He said the military operation in Balochistan and Waziristan proved that the rulers had no respect for the rights of federating units and tribal areas as they only wanted to safeguard the interests of the US. He said the people of Balochistan were well aware of the conspiracy to deprive their province of its vital resources.

“CWPP fully supports the struggle of the people of Balochistan and condemns the military operation in the province, which is not just against the Baloch but all the deprived masses of the country,” said Sufi Baloch.

He criticised the US foreign policy and lauded the resistance offered by the Taliban and the Iraqis against the occupational forces.

The CWPP chief hailed the Supreme Court ruling against the privatisation of Pakistan Steel Mills and demanded nationalisation of public sector organisations.

CWPP Secretary General Ejaz Ghani, his deputy Zahoor Ahmed and members of the executive committee were also present on this occasion.
