DHAKA, July 13: The government of Bangladesh has issued a countrywide security alert following serial bombings in Mumbai
The state minister for home affairs, Lutfozzaman Babar, told journalists on Wednesday that all law enforcement agencies had been put on the highest alert following the Mumbai bombings.
The minister said that ‘there is no intelligence warning about any possible assault like that of Mumbai in our country’, but still ‘we have asked agencies to strengthen security measures’.
Soldiers of paramilitary outfits have been deployed at different strategic points in and around Dhaka. Security around the capital’s diplomatic enclave was also tightened on Thursday, while paramilitary soldiers were patrolling outside the visa office of the Indian High Commission.
