Gas fields attacked

QUETTA, July 12: Rockets and short-range missiles were fired on Sui and Pir Koh gas fields and nearby security checkposts on Wednesday.

A caller claiming to be speaking for tribal militants claimed that three security personnel were seriously injured in Sui area and two FC men were wounded in a landmine blast in Pir Koh area.

Officials confirmed the missile attack on Pir Koh and said that tribesmen had fired seven missiles from mountains. Two of them hit a house in Mewa colony. The house was destroyed and adjoining structures were damaged.

Five other missiles landed near a camp of the Oil and Gas Development Corporation and FC checkposts. No casualty was reported.

Sources said that six rockets were fired in Sui area that exploded near a gas field but installations and wells were safe. Tribesmen also attacked a checkpost in Khost area.
