PCG guard injured in Hub blast

By Saleem Shahid

QUETTA, July 11: A Pakistan Coast Guard (PCG) employee was seriously injured in a blast in Balochistan’s industrial town of Hub on Tuesday. Police said the powerful blast occurred near the PCG office resulting in the death of guard Mohammad Riaz. The blast, carried out with the help of a locally-made time device, also caused minor damage to a portion of the PCG office.

Azad Baloch, a spokesman for the defunct Balochistan Liberation Army, said his organisation claimed responsibility for the blast.

DERA BUGTI SITUATION: Reports reaching here said security forces used helicopter gunships to attack militants’ hideouts in some areas of Dera Bugti.

An unidentified caller said Gori and Sangsilla areas had been bombed, killing a number of people, including women and children.

However, official sources denied having suffered any casualties.

The sources said armed tribesmen attacked the Sui gas field on Tuesday and fired seven rockets on gas wells No. 10 and 15.

“Rockets exploded near the gas filed but failed to hit the target,” the official sources said, adding that a heavy exchange of fire was also reported from the Pir Koh area of Dera Bugti.

There were no reports of casualties from any side.

Meanwhile, a bomb planted near the house of one Asif Mughal, rocked Mastung township on late Monday night. The bomb damaged the walls of the house.
