Athletics: Imran and Naseem fastest in 100m trials

ISLAMABAD, July 11: Mohammad Imran won the 100m sprint on the first day of the open athletics trials for the South Asian Games in what was a one-two-three finish for the Army.
Imran clocked 10.62 sec to land the top honours ahead of team-mates Afzal Baig (10.79) and Mohammad Shahbaz (10.84), spearheading the Army sweep.
The Army athletes also dominated the shot put final through top-finisher Mohammad Ashraf (17.22), Mohammad Waseem (15.23) and Gul Mohammad Bilal (15.10).
Results: Long jump final (men's): Waseem Khan (Army/7.54), Mohammad Riaz (Army/7.45), Mohammad Fiaz (Wapda/7.22)
Shot put final (women's): Zeenat Parveen (Wapda/14.29), Samia Nizai (Wapda).
400m hurdles final (men's): Haq Nawaz (Army/51.54), Allah Ditta (Army/53.34), Sajjad Ahmed Khan (Wapda/54.07).
100m hurdles final (women's): Noshee Parveen (Army/16.29), Fouzia Aurangzeb (Army/17.12), Samaira Tayyaba (Punjab/17.14)
800m final (men's): Saeed Ahmad (Wapda/01:52.7), Irshad Afzal (Wapda/01:52.9), Ali Mohammad (Police/01:54.7).
