JACOBABAD, July 11: Nine people were killed and 13 others injured over an old enmity between Ogahi and Teghani tribesmen in the Naparkot village of Ghouspur taluka on Tuesday.

Sources said that the Teghanis allegedly attacked the Ogahi Naparkot village early in the morning with Kalashnikovs. The Ogahis retaliated and the exchange of fire continued for six hours.

Both the groups used rockets in the fighting in which eight people on both sides were killed and 14 others injured.

The deceased were identified as Gul Hassan Ogahi, 12; Sheru Ogahi, Kaloo Ogahi, Ali Beg Teghani, Khamiso Teghani, Mehrab Teghani, Aleem Teghani and Ghulam Sarwar Teghani.

The feud which started last year has claimed 30 lives so far.

Our Shikarpur correspondent adds: Seven of the injured were brought to Shikarpur civil hospital where one of them Ali Asghar died. The injured under treatment at the hospital were identified as Hazoor Bux, Mohammad Aslam, Hazoor, Noor Hassan Dhoolan and Soomar.

Others were taken to hospitals in Pano Aqil, Karachi, Ghouspur and Kandhkot. Sources said that the fighting erupted over a theft of buffaloes.

Meanwhile, the Teghanis carrying bodies of their co-tribesmen held a demonstration and blocked the Shikarpur-Kandhkot road near Beggari Wah bridge. They were demanding early arrest of culprits.
