KARACHI: APC condemns Israeli aggression

KARACHI, July 11: The All-Parties Conference held on Tuesday expressing solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians condemned the brutalities of Jewish and Zionist regime and criticised the OIC and Western countries for their criminal silence over the situation.

The APC on “Oppressed Palestinians, Muslim Rulers and West's Conscience” was held at Idara Noor-i-Haq with its Jamaat-i-Islami Naib Amir and Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal senior leader Prof Ghafoor Ahmed in the chair. Several other leaders of mainstream religious and political parties also spoke on the occasion.

The APC approved a unanimous resolution condemning Israeli oppressions and brutalities against innocent and unarmed Palestinians and the role of Islamic and Western world. It said Israeli forces’ aggression had put Middle East and the whole world’s stability into jeopardy. The resolution supported the release of Palestinian women and children prior to release of Jewish soldier.

Addressing the APC, MMA leader Prof Ghafoor Ahmed said that Israel had become a global security risk and without its elimination from the world map, peace in the world could not be achieved.

Demanding a unanimous stand by the Organisation of Islamic Countries against Israeli aggression against oppressed Palestinians, he said that people of Pakistan were with Palestinian brethren and they would continue supporting Palestinian people in their independence and creation of an autonomous state in place of Israel.

Criticising the government of Pakistan, especially Foreign Minister Khurshid Kusuri, he said that Pakistani foreign minister talked to US foreign secretary on all issues of the world except the Palestine issue.

On the occasion, he announced that the MMA would hold country-wide protest demonstrations on July 14 to express solidarity with Palestinian people and condemn Israeli action, US and Western support to it and the indifferent attitude of the OIC and Muslim rulers.

Prof N.D. Khan of the Pakistan People’s Party said that the OIC was the appropriate forum which should take action against Israeli aggression and mobilise the whole world to protect oppressed people of Palestine. However, he regretted that the OIC was keeping a criminal silence over this important issue.

JI leader Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui said that Israel was illegal state and the whole western world was patronising it while a lobby of hypocrites in Islamic world was busy in having relations with the cruel Zionist regime.

Other leaders, including Allama Hasan Turabi, Salim Zia of PML-N, Maulana Khan Muhammad Rabbani, Zia Abbass of NPP, JUP’s Siddique Rathore and Sohail Anjum Advocate of Mohajir Qaumi Movement, also condemned the Israeli aggression.—PPI
