KARACHI: Certificate distribution held at DUHS

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, July 11: The Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) held a certificate distribution ceremony on Tuesday for the participants of the 7th teachers training course that the Dow varsity is conducting in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

The varsity has already conducted six such courses, each stretched over a period of 24 days and comprised modules like educational psychology, advance teaching skills, administration planning, communication skills, curricular development, research skills, evaluation measurement, computer skills and micro-teaching, said the course coordinator, Dr Rana Qamar.

About 25 resource persons are taking different modules, while 35 teachers mainly from the public and private sector educational institutions and colleges are attending the course which will be completed shortly.

Among others, the representative of National Academy of Higher Education of the HEC Islamabad, Dur-i-Shahwar and Prof S M Iqbal, HEC representative at Karachi and Mohammad Ali Shaikh, provincial education manager (colleges) attended the ceremony.

Ms Shahwar appreciated the efforts of the DUHS towards organisation of the training courses and mentioned that the NAHE, NEC, would continue sponsoring such courses aimed at capacity building of college and varsity teachers. It is hoped that teachers and organisers of the programme will suggest measures to make the course more effective and supportive to its participant, she added.
