GILGIT, July 10: The scenic Shandur valley was left littered with heaps of garbage, flying polythene bags and leftovers as visitors started leaving the area at the end of the world-famous three-day festival.
Neither the organisers nor the visitors appeared bothered about maintaining cleanliness as the waste generated by the many food stalls and visitors’ camps set up at the festival site over an area of five square kilometers remained unattended, staining the otherwise clean and calm locales of the valley.
