KARACHI: DUHS ceremony

KARACHI, July 10: The Dow University of Health Sciences arranged a ceremony to honour the services of the facilitator of the plastic surgery on patients with post-burn contractures and congenital deformities at Burns Centre, Civil Hospital Karachi on Sunday night.

The visiting medical mission from Houston Texas, USA, also conducted a workshop for enhancement of skill of local nurses handling the burn patients.

The mission, comprising Dr William Geoff Williams, Dr Michael E Schafer, Ms Lesliee Emmert, operated upon about 20 patients, including children. A couple of patients had to undergo multiple surgeries, said a senior member of the Burns Centre.

Prof Masood Hameed Khan, Vice Chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), lauded the services of the visiting team, which performed voluntarily the surgeries, and presented shields and certificates of appreciation to foreign delegates and doctors, technicians and nurses of Burns Centre.

The mission was organized by House of Charity, Houston, and Healthcare and Social Welfare Association.
