KARACHI, July 10: Six ships carrying iron scrap, DAP fertiliser and containers are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Tuesday, according to KPT sources. Berthing activity at the wharves was fairly brisk where nine ships, Hanjin Busan, Thor Captain, CMA CGM Simba and Maersk Alabama, to unload and load containers were berthed.

Others, which also got berths included Sibi to offload sugar, Barra, to offload yellow peas, Lalazar to unload crude oil, Oriental Portea and Vladimir Kokkinaki to load ethanol and molasses.

Sailing was also active as eight vessels, including Sea Rose, Chi Feng Kou, Oel Aishwarya, Sinar Bontang, Ikan Selar, Hanjin Busan, CMA CGM Simba and Nil departed on Monday, while Mearsk Alabama, Amar, Lalazar, Thor Captain, San Nicholas and Oriental Portea are due to sail out on Tuesday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was on the higher side where a total tonnage of 0.126m tons comprising 19,562 tons of export cargo including 3,823 tons of rice and 0.107m tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Tuesday: MOL Kauti, Kota Merdesa, Kota Tarju and APL Osaka, with containers, Tai Harmony, with 40,018 tons of DAP fertiliser and Angara, with 32,500 tons of iron scrap.
