Foreigner held at airport with heroin

By Our Staff Reporter

RAWALPINDI, July 9: The Airport Security Force (ASF) foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics and seized 4.75 grams heroin and arrested a Nigerian national during the check-in for a domestic flight at Islamabad airport on Saturday.

An ASF official, ASI Tahir Ayub, spotted a Nigerian acting suspiciously. When the accused was searched the ASF staff recovered 29 capsules containing 4.75 grams heroin concealed in his undergarments.

The accused identified as Oktaivumnwannaka was arrested and handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Force for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the ASF staff also intercepted a passenger booked on a UK flight for carrying a huge quantity of cigarettes.

Sources said the man was cleared by an ASI of the Anti- Narcotics Force (ANF), though there was a complete ban on taking cigarette packs to Britain.

The passenger, Mohammad Arslan Chaudhry, was booked on PIA flight PK-701 for Manchester.

The sources quoted Mr Arsalan as saying that he had paid a handsome amount to the ANF official for releasing the cigarettes.
