3 die in accident; man shot dead

ATTOCK, July 9: Three persons were killed in a road accident on Burhan-Islamabad motorway section in the jurisdiction of Bahtar police station on Sunday evening.

As per report, a Lahore-bound coach (PE-9475) was heading towards Mardan when it overturned near Bahlot village, resulting in the death of three persons and injuries to many. The injured were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Hassanabdal and other hospitals of Taxila and Rawalpindi.

The deceased are yet to be identified. The accident occurred after the driver fell asleep.

Staff Reporter from Islamabad adds: A estate agent was shot dead here on Sunday, police said.

Khurram Shahzad, 38, a resident of Dhok Khabah, suffered a bullet injury when some unknown gunmen opened fire on him near his house.

The injured was shifted to the Rawalpindi General Hospital where he died. The motive behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, police added.

Staff Reporter from Pindi adds: Four robberies were committed while two cars were taken away by some unidentified culprits from different parts of the city on Saturday, police said.

Mohammad Asghar told Kotli Sattian police that he was driving a bus (AJK-1575) to Azad Kashmir when he found the road blocked near Kotli Sattian. He said as he stopped the bus a gang of robbers surrounded the vehicle. They entered the bus and held the passengers hostage.

The robbers snatched Rs90,000 and five cell phones from the passengers and escaped.

In another incident, four robbers intercepted a motorcycle rider Fahad Azam in the jurisdiction of Saddar Barooni police and robbed him of Rs19,000 cash and a cell phone.

Sikandar Ali, a resident of Chaklala Scheme III, lodged a complaint with the Airport police, saying that he was going home after drawing Rs200,000 from a bank when two robbers intercepted him and looted the cash.

Mohammad Yunus lodged a complaint with R.A. Bazaar police that two robbers snatched his briefcase containing some documents and cash.

Meanwhile, Aziz Manzoor’s car (RLB-2634) was stolen from the Airport police area while Abid Ali’s Suzuki carry van (RIP-6681) was taken away from Saddar.
