KARACHI, July 9: Four people were killed in various parts of the city in separate incidents here on Sunday.
Some unidentified armed men entered a public call office near Beta Chowrangi in Korangi police limits and deprived Samiullah off his cash, calling cards, and other valuables. As they tried to flee, Samiullah raised alarm. The bandits got perplexed and opened fire at the shop of Samiullah. However, the bullet hit Abdul Ghaffar in the neighbouring shop, who died on the spot. The bandits fled with the loot.
The victim was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy. Police could not immediately found any clue to the bandits.
A man was shot dead by two of his friends in Chakiwara in the morning. Khalil Ahmed, 25, had a quarrel with his friends Aftab and Adnan over a petty issue. After an exchange of hot words, one of the victim’s friends shot him dead. Police managed to arrest Adnan and started search to arrest Aftab.
A body was found in a gunny bag in New Karachi near Sanobar Cottage. Police said that a noose round the neck showed that the man was strangled to death. The man's face was mutilated as it was sprayed with acid. However, the police found an identity card from one of the pockets of the victim that showed his name as Kashif, resident of Preedy in Saddar. Police said that the victim was not affiliated with any political or religious party.
In another incident, the body of a youth was found in a graveyard in Ghazi Town in Malir City police limits. The body was shifted to a hospital where the doctors said that the man, in his late twenties, was shot a bullet to his head.
Hashish seized: Pakistan Coast Guards officials seized a huge quantity of hashish loaded on-board Hora Launch, in Jhari Creek area near Ibrahim Haidri, adds APP.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, PCG officials on receiving intelligence about the smuggling of huge quantity of narcotics in Ibrahim Haidri, organised a special sea patrolling to search the area. On seeing the PCG patrol boat smugglers managed to escape leaving behind 197kgs hashish and Hora Launch. Further investigations are underway.
