KARACHI, July 8: Four-year-old chestnut filly, Fantasia, is poised to grab Al-Raee Cup to make it two in a row in the Summer Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Fantasia’s easy five-length win in the last meeting is a true indicator of her form and fitness and if all goes well, she should add another feather to her cap by landing the day’s main event.

Owned by M. R. Hussain, Fantasia is stable-mate of Makina which had won quite a number of big races.

She is drawn in a shortest field of five contestants in the six furlongs seventh race of the day.

It is a handicap race for Pakistani horses of three years and upwards. Her likely challengers are Sea Wave and King Of Sanghar.

With two successive wins on trot, three-year-old chestnut filly, Abhi Abhi, is on course for a hat trick and fancied to claim the Hutson Cup.

She is placed alongside eight runners in the five furlongs fifth race which is restricted for Pakistani horses in class VI. She should be chased by Velvet Green and Gwenivire for the places.

A card of eight races has been drawn for the day. With the exception of Al-Raee Cup, the remaining seven races will be of five furlongs.

The first race begins at 2.pm.

Five-year-old bay mare, Silent Love, is favourite to stretch her winning run should she claim the opener.

Having emerged triumphant in the two previous meetings she is likely to maintain her winning streak.

In a field of 12, she should be chased by Lovely Concept and Auzy. However, running of Fight For Fame and Silver City should be watched.

If tried by connections, Al Jarrar should pick up spoils in the second race. Eight horses are in fray for the honours.

The third race should see four-year-old bay colt, Master Of Disaster, overcoming his opponent’s.

He bolted away at the starting gate last Sunday and the re-betting that followed, made Desperado fancied who won in style.

Sweet Grandy, a 10-year-old bay mare, is tipped to overcome all opposition by winning the fourth race.

Filly Voo Doo Doll should make amends to win the sixth race while filly Butter Fly should maintain her winning run by grabbing the concluding event.

Following is the field and our selection.
